About

TCupolex is a patented dome formwork system made from 100% recycled non-toxic polypropylene. Concrete is poured over interconnected modular dome forms, creating either floating or structural slabs on grade with an air-void underneath. The arch-column geometry transfers load to the ground while delivering an equivalent load-bearing slab with significantly less concrete and reinforcement than a standard pour.

The under-slab void has practical applications beyond structural efficiency. It can be vented to control humidity, remove vapours like radon, methane, and VOCs from contaminated sites, and prevent moisture wicking that damages flooring overlays. The system was originally developed in Italy in the 1990s for the US Air Force to mitigate radon gas in new buildings.

In Australia, Cupolex has been used across 2,500+ residential, commercial, and industrial installations since 2010, replacing both polystyrene waffle pods and conventional fill. Made locally in Australia from 100% recycled polypropylene, the system has won Best Environmental Product at Civenex Sydney and GreenSmart Sustainable Home of the Year.

The Slab Tank variant uses the same dome geometry to create cast-in-place underground stormwater detention and retention tanks — providing space-efficient on-site water storage under car parks, driveways, or open spaces.

Less material, same load

Arch-column geometry delivers equivalent load capacity with significantly less concrete and reinforcement than a standard slab. Six times stronger than Australian standard requirements at the highpoint.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does Cupolex compare with waffle pods?

Cupolex replaces polystyrene waffle pods with a 100% recycled polypropylene dome system. Practical advantages: no polystyrene foam debris on site, no cutting waste, non-reflective surface (no sun glare), structurally stronger underfoot during installation, and fully recyclable at end of life. Polystyrene-free construction is increasingly required by councils and sustainability frameworks.
