About

QPOD is a plastic raft foundation system manufactured in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand from 100% recycled and recyclable polypropylene. Each unit weighs just 1.2kg, making it dramatically lighter to handle on site than polystyrene alternatives and fully recyclable at end of life rather than sitting in landfill.

CodeMark certified in New Zealand and available across Australia, QPOD is the plastic raft system trusted by builders, engineers, and councils for residential and commercial slab-on-grade foundations. Three configurations : QPOD Continuous, QPOD Raft, and QPOD 300, cover ground conditions from good to poor, giving engineers the flexibility to specify the right system for the site rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all pour.

The QPOD system also underpins SlabTank, a cast-in-place stormwater attenuation tank built with the same dome technology. One manufacturer, two product families, both delivering the material efficiency and sustainability that modern construction demands.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does QPOD compare with polystyrene waffle pods?

QPOD replaces polystyrene waffle pods with a 100% recycled polypropylene system that's fully recyclable at end of life. Practical advantages: no polystyrene foam debris on site, no cutting waste, lighter to handle (1.2kg per unit versus polystyrene equivalents), and full CodeMark certification. Increasingly, polystyrene-free construction is required by councils and sustainability frameworks, QPOD meets that specification while delivering equivalent or superior structural performance.

Is QPOD approved for Australian council submissions?

What's the difference between QPOD Continuous, Raft, and 300?

What is SlabTank and how does it relate to QPOD?

Can QPOD be used on contaminated or reclaimed sites?
