About

Starbars™ is Danterr's high-performance Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bar, engineered to replace conventional steel reinforcement in concrete construction. Manufactured with continuous high-strength glass fibres encapsulated in a resilient polymer matrix, Starbars™ delivers up to twice the tensile capacity of steel at approximately one-quarter of the weight.

Available in standard diameters of 10mm, 12mm, and 16mm, supplied in 6000mm lengths, and manufactured in accordance with ASTM D7957/D7957M, the US standard for GFRP reinforcement in concrete. That's the certification engineers, consultants, and contractors need to specify Starbars™ with confidence on Australian projects.

The material advantages are significant. Because GFRP does not rust and does not conduct electricity, Starbars™ is particularly well-suited to structures exposed to coastal, marine, or chemically aggressive conditions as well as rail, tram, MRI, and other electromagnetic-sensitive applications where steel reinforcement causes complications. Distributed through Danterr's national network across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin, and Perth, Starbars™ is backed by delivery reliability and local support.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does Starbars compare with conventional steel reinforcement?

Starbars delivers up to twice the tensile capacity of steel reinforcement at approximately one-quarter the weight. Single-person handling replaces two-person lifts, freight costs drop significantly, and the completely non-corrosive material eliminates the rust failures that reduce the service life of steel-reinforced concrete. Engineering design must account for GFRP's different stiffness properties, our team provides that design support.
