About

TRUEDEK® is a permanent steel suspended slab formwork and reinforcement system, purpose-designed to overcome the limitations of typical metal decking. Exclusively manufactured and distributed by Premier Steel Technologies from their facility in Wetherill Park, Sydney, TRUEDEK® has been proven across mezzanine floors, warehouse slabs, apartment renovations, and difficult-access commercial projects since its relaunch under Premier Steel in 2016.

The system comprises a rigid, robust truss panel and an optional flat infill panel, offering un-propped spanning capacity of up to 7.5 metres — up to three times further than conventional formwork. Pre-cambering eliminates wet concrete deflection, producing a truly flat soffit and enabling more accurate concrete volume estimation. Panels are manufactured to required site lengths, dramatically reducing cutting waste on site.

The versatility comes from a variety of steel grades, thicknesses, and coatings across the base, web, and top plate — with truss panels supplied in voided, partially voided, or solid configurations to suit load, span, and fire rating requirements on each project.

Product configurations

  • Optional flat infill panel

  • Voided configuration for reduced concrete volume and slab weight

  • Partially voided configuration for balanced weight and strength

  • Solid configuration for maximum strength

  • Multiple truss heights available (e.g. TD170)

  • Multiple metal grades and thicknesses for base, web, and top plate

  • Standard truss panel (250mm nominal width)

Typical applications

  • Suspended concrete slabs in areas difficult to prop

  • Mezzanine floors in warehouses and distribution centres

  • Infill slabs for lift shafts and difficult-access areas

  • Long-span slabs where conventional decking requires propping

  • Renovation projects with limited underside access

  • Both concrete-frame and steel-frame buildings

  • Commercial and large residential buildings

Site & construction benefits

  • Safe working platform up to 5kPa prior to concrete pour

  • Fitting out can commence the day after pour

  • Smooth soffit simplifies services installation

  • No set-downs or beams to install around

  • Speeds internal wall framing (all metal studs cut to same height)

  • Small services can be run through the deck at installation

  • Fully patented and trademarked system

  • No propping or back-propping required (except unsupported edges)

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How does TRUEDEK compare with conventional metal decking?

The most significant difference is spanning capacity — TRUEDEK spans up to 7.5 metres un-propped, up to three times further than conventional formwork. It's manufactured to required site lengths (reducing waste), pre-cambered (eliminating ponding), and configurable in voided, partially voided, or solid variants to suit load and weight requirements. The system also delivers a truly flat soffit that speeds fit-out and simplifies services installation.
